Beza Sisay and Tiguaded (her mom) success story

Her name is BEZA SISAY (CTE-108). She was six years old when her mother heard about CTE. Her mother heard that the area where CTE was located have sponsorship program and came to ask. Her mother name is Teguaded Amsalu. She is born in Gojam, northern part of Ethiopia. When Teguaded was one year old, her left part of her face was burnt while she was cruising/ trying to walk on fours. She managed to get hospital treatment after her father’s childhood friend promised to take care of her treatment. She came to Addis Ababa when she was 8 years old with her brother to start her medical treatment. Since the treatment was taking a long time, the place where she was born was not modern as it is now, the doctor told them that she should stay here and that her father’s friend have to let her to stay/live with him to get her treatment then she continued her treatment while living with them. The treatment continued until she was 13 years old, and after the completion of the treatment, her father’s friends wife did not allow her to live with them, so she rented a house, working day as a daily labor and studying at night.

Tiguaded is a single mother. CTE staffs went to her home and saw their living condition. Because of the deep poverty they were in, they were very sad. She was isolated; people didn’t want her to work for them because of the scar on her face. CTE staffs, they made frequent door-to-door/home visits before Beza got a sponsor. They received home visit materials/ food items and her profile was placed as a top priority. Teguaded was working as a day laborer to raise Beza. When she went to her day job, she had no family to keep her child, so she used to lock her child in their small and cramped room to prevent her daughter from being sexually assaulted because there was no one to watch her. They used to live in a small space under stairs/spandrel. There was food problem at their home. Meanwhile, Beza got a very good sponsor. After joining CTE, Beza and her mother received various support of regular grain/food, food-oil, sanitary materials, and cooking items to make stew. For Beza, clothing, shoes, school supplies, school uniform, school fee are covered, was part of kids retreat, refreshment and educational visits.

Her mother is a very hard working person. She actively participated in her SHG and engaged during home visits of SHG members. She was an active loan taker from her SHG for her small business/petty trade. Teguaded diligently and moved into a better rental house. When they moved into this house, mattresses, beds and kitchen ware were bought for them by CTE..

Their life started changing and Teguaded got a job opportunity from the government to clean the street of Addis Ababa. Because she has been employed by the government for more than five years and known for her diligence; she got a government condominium house for a small amount of money, which she is slowly paying for. Now she is paying the payment every other month. In the future, she plans to work harder than she is right now and pay off the rest in full. She still does the street cleaning. Plus, she takes loan from SHG for her house down payment.

Now, they have a better, clean house with a clean bed, running water and electricity. Before they came to CTE the house they were living at had no electricity and water.

Recently, Plastic surgery was done on her burnt face around her eyes and hair transplant through the office by a support provided on Thursday at March 21, 2024 with the sincere cooperation and efforts of her sponsors. The surgery was necessary because of her eyes. The surgery was completed successfully.
